NEWSLETTER – 18th – 24th May

Dear Member,

As we are nearing the end of our first week back plaing golf in Cill Dara, I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the stellar work the Marshalls have been doing, giving up their free time to help out in these difficult times.  The Joint committee have been doing great work to ensure that golfing has resumed in the safest way possible carrying out recommendations from Golf Ireland & Government guidelines.

As you may be aware, there is an interval of 14 minutes between tee times and this will continue next week.  The timesheets for the week 25th – 31st are now available to book. Please ensure that you are putting your name down everytime you play and that the players with you are correctly input.  Should you have any problems with BRS please call the office 045-521295 and we will endeavour to get you sorted.

Can all Members ensure that their membership subscriptions are up to date. Standing orders are always available for Members to budget their payments. Should you need any assistance with this matter please do not hesitate to contact Joanne in the strictest confidence.

It is our hope to resume “Thursday 4ball” next week.  This is a fun, singles competition. Entry is €3 & re entry is €2 for 10 holes. First competition is Monday to Thursday, and Friday to Sunday is the second one. Please support.

The Committee purchased a two bay practice net recently and thanks to some of our great members it was installed this morning.  Be sure to try it out.

Junior Golf – U18’s

Further to enquiry re Junior Golf, Under 18’s are permitted to play with an Adult Member of Cill Dara, preferably from the same family, only. This is part of the “Getting back to Golf” guidelines issued from Golf Ireland.

Return to Golf 18th May 2020

Dear Member,

We hope you and your family are safe and well.

Golf Ireland, the Irish Ladies Golf Union and the Golfing Union of Ireland have issued protocols for golf clubs and golfers, following extensive consultation with the relevant government departments and state agencies, to ensure golf clubs can reopen, on a restricted basis, from Monday 18th May 2020 for CASUAL GOLF ONLY.

It is extremely important to note that public health restrictions, which are being eased on 18th May, may be re-imposed by government at very short notice if the protocols agreed with golf’s national governing bodies are not being followed.

As required by the governing bodies, Cill Dara Golf Club has agreed to ‘sign up’ to the protocols issued and will undertake whatever measures are required to ensure that the protocols pertaining to the safe return of golf are implemented.

As per Golf Ireland,  recommendations U18’s must be accompanied by an Adult Member of Cill Dara Golf Club, preferably a family member.  To ensure guidelines are being adhered to, we will have Course Marshalls on duty from 8am to 8pm.   Only arrive 5 minutes before your tee time, bring your own refreshments if required.  We expect that members will adhere to all other Government & Golf Ireland recommendations.  A member may play a maximum of 3 times in a week. Names of players must be on the BRS timesheet for tracing purposes.

We are very fortunate that golf has been included in the early phase of our country’s re-opening, so it is important that the reputation of our game is maintained.  We expect a high demand for golf from Day 1 and the demand will only increase further as we progress through the various phases outlined in Government’s ‘Roadmap for Reopening Society & Business’.

The restrictions required for this initial Phase will not last forever, but it is imperative that we remain patient and compliant to ensure that the gradual process of a return to some form of normality takes place as soon as possible.

We anticipate all members will take personal responsibility to protect their own personal safety as well as the safety of their fellow members and staff at the Club.  It is extremely important to stress that any member who may have any symptoms of COVID-19, should not travel to the Club, and should any member develop any COVID-19 related illnesses after playing golf, they must contact the Club as soon as possible.

The timesheets from Monday 18th to Sunday 24th May inclusive will open today Thursday at 2.00pm.  Members are asked to familiarize themselves with the guidelines attached  in advance of booking a tee time.

We are looking forward to opening the golf course and welcoming you back to play.

On behalf of all at Cill Dara Golf Club, stay safe and healthy,

Kind regards,

The Joint Committee.

The GUI & ILGU and the Irish Government has requested all Golf Clubs to close until the 19th April in a bid to restrict movement of people, thereby containing Covid 19. We hope that at then end of this, we will all be healthy and ready to get out and enjoy ourselves again. Please remember social distancing and hand washing are vital in staying healthy.
