Membership Subscriptions 2021

The annual bill run unfortunately collides with Christmas & Santa’s visit each year as your renewal date is the 1st of January. We have been preparing the billing run and those of you who are using Club V1 will notice the amount owing.  The amounts shown are including monies outstanding as of 1st of December – the December standing orders have not been posted yet. The bills will be emailed where possible and posted to those with no email address. As we have upwards of 500 Members across all categories this is a great cost saving measure. Standing Order is a great way to budget your subscription over 12 months and is always available to members.

Should you decide that you are not renewing at Cill Dara, please call the office 045521295 or email to ensure that the transfer to your new club is as seamless as possible.  As always thank you for being a great member of Cill Dara as we all look forward to a nice, safe Christmas and a bright New Year in 2021.

Golf Ireland Update

FAO All Members

This update is for clubs in the Republic of Ireland, however all clubs are included for information purposes.

Note re Members playing in their Home Club during Level 3

Level 3 of the Government’s ‘Living with COVID’ framework requires people to stay in their county with the exception of travel for specific essential reasons as outlined on

Up to now, all sporting organisations have advised their participants not to travel outside of their county to engage in sporting activity, save for some very limited exceptions.

However, we have been acutely aware of many instances where these rules have prevented a significant number of club members from accessing the facilities of their golf club due to residing on the other side of a county boundary. This applies in particular to clubs which are situated close to county boundaries, for example Dun Laoghaire (Dublin-Wicklow), Carton House (Dublin-Kildare-Meath), Portumna (Galway-Offaly-Tipperary), Enniscrone (Sligo-Mayo), Waterford (Waterford-Kilkenny) and a number of others.
Having discussed this issue with regard to these and other examples with Sport Ireland, we can confirm with immediate effect that members can continue to travel to their Home Club to play golf.
It is important to note that this dispensation applies to local travel only, and only to home club members. It also remains the case that golfers are not permitted to travel beyond their county to play golf at a club which is not their home club while the Level 3 travel restrictions remain in place.

From 18 December until 6 January, all domestic travel restrictions will be lifted and golfers can travel to play golf beyond their county boundaries in all circumstances during this time.

Following the Irish Government’s announcement on Tuesday 18th August in relation to new public health measures, golf clubs are reminded that these come into place immediately.

All existing public health, social distancing and hygiene measures for golf also remain in place and must continue to be fully adhered to.

Full details of the measures are available at but golf clubs should note the following in particular:

  • Golf clubs should continue to allow remote working where possible
  • Golf club restaurants and cafes, including pubs which are currently acting as restaurants, can remain open but with a mandatory closing time of 11.30pm
  • Golf competitions and matches are to revert to behind-closed-doors with no spectators allowed. This includes inter-club matches and club championships. Attendance by one parent or guardian in a safeguarding capacity for those aged 17 and under is permitted and wouldn’t be considered a ‘spectator’ in this case.
  • There should also be strict avoidance of social gatherings before and after games or fixtures (no shot gun starts, Get into Golf presentations, prize presentations for example).
  • In respect of inter-club matches, Clubs in the Republic of Ireland must ensure that only those essential to the playing of a match are in attendance. No spectators are currently permitted following the announcement of new restrictions on Tuesday 18th August. In addition to players, therefore, ONLY the following categories may attend under the new restrictions when matches are split between two venues:
  1. One individual may attend at each venue as the team captain or nominee of the team captain.
  2. The Men’s Club Captain or his nominee may attend at a venue, and the Captain may also nominate another individual to represent him at the other venue

iii. Reserve players/pairs may attend in accordance with the overall numbers allowed under 6.4 of the General Regulations for Inter-Club Matches (ie, up to two reserve players for a five-man team and up to two reserve pairings for a ten-man team). The reserves attending should be split between the two venues.

  • Wearing a cloth face covering in public may reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the community. It may help to reduce the spread of respiratory droplets from people infected with COVID-19. Cloth face coverings may help to stop people who are not aware they have the virus from spreading it. By law, face coverings must be worn in all shops, including retail shops in golf clubs.

  • Outdoor training sessions (group coaching, summer camps, clinics etc) should be limited to 15 people including tutors and supervisors.

  • For those over 70 or who are extremely medically vulnerable, it is asked that you use your individual judgement to  keep the number of people you meet as low as possible. When you do meet people – it should be at a distance of 2 metres and for as short a time as possible.
  • Club meetings  taking place indoors must adhere to the Government guideline of a maximum of six people in attendance.
  • If a member of your club or a staff member contracts Coronavirus you should contact the HSE for advice in the first instance. The HSELive service can be contacted on 1850 24 1850.
  • Golf clubs in Kildare, Offaly and Laois are still subject to other restrictions which remain in place until Sunday 23rd August inclusive before these new restrictions come into effect. See

A revised Protocol will be published in the coming days to assist clubs with the latest measures which are in effect up to and including Sunday 13th September.
